Q: What travel documents do you need to board the ship?
A: For entry into the Bahamas and re-entry in the United States, all U.S. born and naturalized citizens must carry proof of citizenship, (i.e. a passport OR an original birth certificate with the raised seal AND a state issued picture I.D. such as a Driver’s License).

Note: Your Birth Certificate CAN NOT be a copy of the original, it must be a certified copy with a raised seal or preferably the ORIGINAL birth certificate.

Foreign passengers must be in possession of a valid passport and a multiple-entry visa. It is your responsibility to check with government agencies and/or consulates to determine documentary requirements for entry into the Bahamas and re-entry into the United States. All documents must be originals.

A: Yes, XXP-Lifestylez Staff will be in the Bahamas throughout your trip. The 3 Hotels’ Information are listed below if you need to contact a student traveler at the hotel. Otherwise, please contact Pat in the Bahamas @ 242-357-5271 ONLY for emergencies.

Q: Where do I park my car if I want to drive to the port?
A: You can park your car at Port Everglades. Port Everglades has a secured parking lot where you park your car. It costs approximately $12-$14/day.

Q: What do I do with my luggage?
A: You check it at the port and claim it in the Bahamas. Each passenger is allowed to check 2 bags.

Q: Should I bring a carry on bag?
A: Yes you can bring a carry-on but please do not put any food in your carry on bag! It will be confiscated at the port. While in the Bahamas, you can purchase all of the food you'll need at local grocery stores.

Q: Do I get a cabin?
A: Since you are not staying overnight on board the ship, you don’t get a cabin. If you are interested in renting one you can check with the pursers desk when you board the ship. It costs approximately $60. Otherwise, there are locker rooms where you can change. These are free.

Q: How do I get from the Bahamas port to my hotel?
A: Your taxi transfers are included with the cost of your trip. You will get 2 vouchers for this taxi transfer when you check in at the port with Xtreme-Lifestylez. 1 for the ride from the port to your hotel, and 1 from the hotel back to the port on your last day of travel do NOT loose your transfer coupons since they are non-replaceable or refundable.

Q: How much is food?
A: Food is moderately priced as in any resort area. It is shipped or flown over from the U.S. so it is a little bit more expensive than usual. Fast food like Burger King, McDonalds, Subway, Wendy’s and KFC are available and are not that much more than what you would find in the States. Sit down restaurants can be expensive depending on where you go and what you order. Alcohol is very inexpensive (1/2 gallon of rum is $13.00, but Coke is expensive!)

Q: Can I bring food/drinks to the Bahamas?
A: The cruise ship will not allow people to bring alcohol on board. (It’s cheaper to buy it in the Bahamas anyway.) No food will be allowed in your carry on bag! It must be checked.

Q: What food is included in our trip price?
A: The Discovery Cruise Line provides 3 meals. Your breakfast and lunch buffet meals on the way over to Grand Bahama Island and dinner on your way back to Ft. Lauderdale.

Q: Are all of our drinks included on the cruise ship?
A: No, you’ll be responsible for purchasing your own drinks. (Ice water and tea are included with the three meals that you’ll get for free.)

Q: What is the drinking age?
A: The drinking age is 21 while on the ship and is 18 in the Bahamas.

Q: What is the currency in the Bahamas?
A: No need to convert your money The US Dollar is accepted everywhere you go. The Bahamian dollar is equal in value with the U.S. Dollar anyways.

Q: How much spending money do I need?
A: Anywhere from $100-$300 in addition to the $99 for the party package. You know your spending habits better than anyone so it depends on if you’re a Baller or eating Ramen noodles. If you eat and drink a lot you’ll spend more than this. Use your judgment.

Q: What is the best way to get around the island?
A: You can take the public bus for $2 each way! It is very easy to catch and very convenient! There are also plenty of taxicabs.

Q: Can we drink alcohol on the beach?
A: Yes, there are no open container laws in the Bahamas.

Q: How far is Grand Bahama from Nassau and Paradise Island?
A: Approximately 80 miles. You’ll be closer to Florida than Nassau and Paradise Island.

Q: Will our bags get searched when we enter the Bahamas?
A: Maybe, and maybe when you come back to the states too. Be careful with your shampoo bottles and water bottles.

Q: Are there ATM machines in the Bahamas?
A: Yes, there are ATM’s available on the island and in the Port Lucaya Square.

Q: Can we drink the water?
A: Yes. It tastes good too. If you go to Mexico don’t drink the water!

Q: What happens if I forget my proof of citizenship?
A: You will not be able to board the ship. Immigration will not make any exceptions! You will also not receive any refund from XXP-Lifestylez. Please keep this locked up in your bags or in your hotel safe.
